About The Artist
Gwen grew up in rural New Jersey, spending part of her time with both sets of grandparents. One set lived on a dairy farm and the other pair had horses. Her grandmother with the horses was an artist and they would paint together on the weekends. It’s here where she developed her passion for art and nature.
Gwen studied illustration and painting at The Rhode Island School of Design. After graduating she moved to Boston to work as a designer and illustrator. Needing more space, Gwen began painting within an artists community in Waltham, MA and eventually moved her art studio up to Western Avenue Studios in Lowell, MA.
She has exhibited her work in group shows, various Massachusetts galleries and has participated in many Open Studios. Gwen enjoys working in her studio, surrounded by color and
fellow artists.

Artist Statement
My creative process is about observing nature and intuitively painting expressive, bold, and moving colorscapes. Sometimes I like to start with very little reference in mind, play with color, paint thickness, shape relationships and watch my paintings spontaneously evolve. Other times, I take photographs and visualize what I want to paint before I begin. My paintings reflect love of and concern for the environment.
I’ve participated in Open Studios in the Boston area and Open Studios in Lowell, MA. My work has been in shows at The Loading Dock Gallery in Lowell, The Arthaus Gallery in Boston, McCoy Art Gallery, The Groton Public Library, River Street Artists Studios
in Waltham, Waltham Public Library and the RISD Spring & RISD Fall ArtSales in Providence, RI.
My paintings can be viewed at Western Avenue Studios, in Lowell, MA.
